A request to all you people.

Kindly mention the names of the people in the photographs for the benefit of other forum members who may not be too familiar with all the seniors & juniors. That is, if it is possible at all.
Bye for now & GOD Bless.

Dear Dr Arvind

Wonderful to hear from you.I had been to India reecently & met few of your batchmates - Ankur, Sidharth, Anita & few more.
In fact with Sidharth, we went to Nainital along with Nehra & Pankaj. We were 18 of us including the kids & had a wonderful time together.
Here in UK, I am in touch with Rahul Tomer & Sanjay Burmi. Hopefully will meet them on 20th June.

Cheers
Santosh

Hi ! Santosh Boss, aren't you the one who was the captain of our cricket team during SMCT, 1996 ? If yes, then you surely must be remembering me (Neeley Dastaaney, you know :!: ). I hope you are all fine & am looking forward to the details of LLRM Meet, 2009, UK.
Bye for now & GOD Bless.

Its delightful to know that SMCT was organized in 1996 as I thought there was none after 1989 which was organized by our batch.
I was actually wondering the story of Neele Dastane which I had no clue about. I left the college in 1995 and thats why I knew nothing about the SMCT or neele dastane... Would be good to hear in anyways!

Cheers and ciao

Dear Santosh,
I am pleased to know that you have been in touch with several of my batch mates additional to your friends.
Its always good spending some leisure time together and Nanital is a wondeful place.
We spoke to Rahul and Sanjay when we organized the batch meet on 21st march. Rahul vists the forum but somehow never posts. May be you can now cajole him to do so as all of us have so far failed to motivate him to write. Though in college days, he never hesitated writing.
I am sure you guys would have great time on 20th June and convey our wishes and hello to all. I surely feel it would be good if you can make people aware about the forum which is now bringing more and more college mates together.
Let us be in touch!
Cheers and ciao

Hi Boss ! Yes, SMCT was indeed organized again in 1996 & I am happy to tell you that our college was the proud & deserving winner of that edition of the "Shivraj Kishore Memorial Cricket Tournament". In fact, all of us team members got so many goodies (courtesy Anil Maini Boss & SG Company) that one can't really forget it. Anil Maini Boss & Dr AK Saxena had announced a prize of an SG bat for every member of our team who scored a half-century in a match. By the end of the tournament, the top order of our team each had about half a dozen bats & the other team members were ruing the lack of opportunities to earn some bats (beautiful SG bats they were). Our batting throughout the tournament was so strong that we hardly broke any sweat winning each of our matches. Our strategy was simple, Win the toss & bowl first; then chase down any target. This strategy worked fine for us until the final where we lost the toss against Kanpur & were asked to bat first. And sure enough, half the team was back in the pavilion for around 50-runs or so. Just when everything seemed lost, our lower order showed why they had been ruing the lack of opportunities to showcase their batting skills. In the process, a couple of our all-rounders picked up a bat each (having got their fifties) & then went on to hit some big sixes, a couple of which hit the water tank at the top. After having got to a healthy total, 220 or so I believe (though it was a 40-over match), we then had six of the opposing batsmen back in their pavilion for less than 70 runs. Though they got a little partnership going, it was always going to be a tough task for the later batsmen to score more than a hundred & fifty runs, though one of their premier batsmen was still at the crease. We won by around 70-runs or so & picked up almost every individual trophy --- best batsman, best bowler, player of the tounament. The losing finalists were given a consolation prize in the form of best wicket-keeper, though I still believe I had a right to that award (having conceded less byes---hardly any, taken more catches, effecting more stumpings & having contributed to more run-outs [of the opposing batsmen, of course]. Anyway, I hold no grudges against anybody & am thankful to everyone for getting an opportunity to experience a wonderful time that was SMCT --- 1996.
Bye for now & GOD Bless.

Dear Sadhu and Santosh,
What a pleasure to know that the tournament was organised again though after a gap of several years.
Congratulations to all of you for winning so many prizes and awards including SG bats. Dr Maini Boss has always been very kind and supportive and SG, the traditional sponsor of many a prizes. Great to hear the heroics! It would be good to know more of this tournament as I wonder if there was any more after 1996. In fact, Sanjeev in other thread also shared the surprise on this fact. Both of us were the organizing Sec and Joint Sec and really mobilized not only resources but teams from many places (probably the largest number ever participated in the SMCT). What a team effort it was! It would probably be good to put some of these memories in the blog. Scientific exhibition and fete was before the tournament to raise funds and we really did a good show. More later...
Let us see now how the Indian Team performs at the World Cup T20 as the signs are not very promising as they were convincingly tamed by the Carrebeans. Beating England and SA is going to be a tall order.Let us pray and wish good luck to the team.
Cheers and ciao
